The Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) is ending its collaboration with the podcast The blue bag for a worker training campaign due to the recent controversy between organizers Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse.

The organization that monitors the construction industry has decided to end the “Proud and Competent” advertising campaign in which the sports podcast was involved. The 500 training courses will continue to be offered to workers, but the partnership with La Poche bleue will be terminated.

An episode of the show Sous Listen, hosted by comedian Mike Ward, was recently removed. In an excerpt from the missing podcast broadcast on Tout le monde en parole, we can see the two ex-hockey players making inappropriate gestures towards the presenter.

“The CCQ disapproves of any inappropriate actions of this nature and we cannot accept that the construction industry is associated with this type of behavior,” said spokeswoman Marie-Noël Deblois.

The organization, which represents both employers and unions, is careful not to be associated in any way with such actions, although it has been campaigning for a healthy climate on construction sites for many years, it emphasizes.

According to a survey conducted by the CCQ, almost eight in 10 construction workers do not report cases of intimidation or harassment for fear of reprisals or losing their jobs.

“This is an issue we have raised many times and continue to work on. Therefore, it is truly unacceptable for us to be associated with this type of behavior,” Ms. Deblois added.
