Prime Video has just announced a television adaptation of Cruel intentions. The series was originally ordered in April, although it was unclear at the time whether it would stream on Prime Video or Freevee, Amazon’s AVOD platform in the US. The first season will consist of eight episodes.

The series will be a television update of the 1999 film based on the classic novel “Dangerous Liaisons.” The series is set to take place at an elite college in Washington, DC, “where two ruthless stepbrothers will do anything to stay at the top of the ruthless social hierarchy,” according to the official description. “After a brutal incident of intimidation threatens the entire Panhellenic system at their school, they will do whatever it takes to maintain their power and reputation, even if it means seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States.”
