The World Media Summit in China focused on collaboration

After days of dialogue in the southern province of Guangdong dedicated to collaboration, consensus, journalistic ethics and challenges facing the sector; Other delegates met in the city of Kunming, Yunnan province, to continue the talks.

At the opening ceremony, participants emphasized the media’s responsibility in promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and in modernizing human society.

During the ceremony, a document entitled “Kunming Initiative for the Fifth World Media Summit” was also adopted and a thematic event on the culture of this province was launched.

As part of the agenda, representatives will also take part in the second Yunnan International Communication Forum until December 8th.

More than 450 delegates from 200 institutions in Guangdong supported the Fifth World Media Summit Declaration on Consensus, Cooperation and Journalistic Ethics.

The text of the quote called on the media to address the urgent demands of developing countries in areas such as poverty alleviation, food security, financing for development and industrialization.

“Uncertainties and unpredictable factors are increasing, posing unprecedented challenges to human society. More than ever, the international community needs to strengthen unity and cooperation. “The global media must build a communication bridge to answer the questions raised by the world,” the document says.

The statement advocates journalistic ethics and adherence to professional standards in a scenario characterized by the rapid advance of new technologies in the information age.
