After the performance The exes Almost 15 years ago, Patricia Paquin and Mathieu Gratton did it again with the comedy show The EXseparableswhich will tour Quebec from spring 2024.
Are they planning to wash their dirty laundry publicly with Les EXséparables? “Yes!” Patricia Paquin answers immediately. “We’re just going to train a little bit because we’re not narcissistic people,” explains Mathieu Gratton. Although Patricia, it is not clear…” The tone, joking and not close, is set.
The presenter Patricia Paquin, 55, and the speaker and comedian Mathieu Gratton, 47, were a couple for several years. In 2001, they welcomed their child Benjamin.
“We tease each other all the time, but the word ‘tease’ is weak,” admits Mathieu Gratton. We like to criticize each other and with a lot of friendship. We have this dynamic, maybe it hides something else, but it is very profitable. [Rires…] People love it. »
Rake wide
What can we expect from The EXseparables? “The basic plot is the fact that we are exes and have a connection, namely our son Benjamin. In Les Ex we told our story. With “Les EXséparables” we find ourselves more in the contemporary stand-up of two parents who have stayed in touch. Of course we will also address current issues that shaped this time,” explains Mathieu Gratton, who wrote the texts for this new show.
A seat that allows you to cast a wide landing net. In addition to offering live couples therapy to the lovers in the room, the exes plan to address social media hate, openness to the LGBTQ+ community, funny stories from their first tour, and their son Benjamin, who we’re mostly talking about Know the Facebook page Le monde de Benjamin was created to raise awareness of autism.
“It’s not a conference about autism, it’s a comedy show. Of course, as parents of an autistic child, we will make some jokes about autism, which we have the right to make,” jokes Mathieu Gratton.
“The next step is the staging,” says Patricia Paquin. Joël Legendre, who worked with us on Les Ex, is back for this show. We’re not starting from scratch. He knows our working technique, Mathieu’s spelling…”
The duo can also count on Yanick Boivin (Yelo Molo) on guitar. “It gives the show a little touch,” says Mathieu Gratton. Patricia will also sing a little something… But don’t put it in the article, otherwise people won’t buy tickets!”
For love of people
Right from the start, the artists admit that they can’t wait to meet the audience again as part of this new show. “I really enjoyed talking to people after the shows,” says Patricia Paquin. We will definitely do it again. Everything I do must be motivated by laughter. The goal is inevitably for people to have fun and laugh.”
Les EXséparables will be touring Quebec starting May 1st. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 8th at 10 a.m. For full details click here.
