Angelina Jolie will reprise her villainous role in Disney’s Maleficent 3.

The 48-year-old actress confirmed the news in a new profile with WSJ. magazine, although she gave no further details.

It comes four years after the release of the sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. It is currently not clear who will star alongside her.

Previous Maleficent films have starred Elle Fanning as Aurora, Maleficent’s stepdaughter, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer, Harris Dickinson, Ed Skrein, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple and others.

In the same interview, Jolie also hinted that she wants to quit acting for good – while also revealing that she plans to leave “unhealthy” Los Angeles and spend “more time” in Cambodia.

Maleficent is the evil fairy in the 1959 animated classic “Sleeping Beauty,” and Angelina plays her in a live-action film from 2014.

Just five years later, Jolie played her again in Mistress Of Evil, still with black horns, fighting fairies and dealing with her conflicting maternal feelings towards the sweet Princess Aurora (Fanning).

The original 2014 film grossed a whopping $758 million worldwide and was another successful addition to Disney’s dark fairytale series. The follow-up film grossed $491.7 million.

Being the entertainer that she is, when she first landed the role in 2014, Jolie used her scary costume to play pranks on her children.

“I actually pranked my kids when I first filmed Maleficent and I scared one of my kids! And I’ll never do that again.”

“I won’t say which kid it was, but I thought when I first put it on and they’d never seen it before, and I thought it would be kind of fun, you know.” “But when you’re little “You don’t realize what a mother means to a child,” she shared in 2019.

“I think that’s why Maleficent is so scary, because she’s a woman,” she continued. “So it’s almost like a mother.” Mom means so much to me and when mom turns into something that’s like a demon, it had a really bad effect and I had to sort of take it off and take everything off in front of my kids to to say, “It’s me!” It’s me! That’s me.”OK.”‘

Despite confirming the upcoming role, Angelina hinted in her new interview that she’s ready to say goodbye to Hollywood. There, she spoke about leaving the City of Angels for Cambodia after “losing the ability to travel freely” in her bitter divorce battle with Brad Pitt.

The actress spoke to the WSJ about her dislike of Hollywood. In the magazine’s new December/January issue, she explains that she thinks it’s a “shallow” place and admits that if she had entered the industry today, she probably never would have become an actress.

She explained that she wants to move away as soon as possible and live in her home in Asia instead – but not until her ongoing legal battle with her ex is resolved.

The couple started dating in 2005 and married in 2014, but split two years later in 2016 – and since then they have been embroiled in a drawn-out, seven-year divorce case over custody of their six children.

Angelina told WSJ. Magazine that the court battle resulted in her “losing the ability to live and travel freely.”

“That’s part of what happened after my divorce – I lost the ability to live and travel so freely,” she said. “I’ll move when I can.”

“I grew up in a pretty superficial place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So they’re looking for authenticity.’

Angelina, whose parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, were both actors themselves, added that she was “never particularly impressed” by it because she grew up “close” to Hollywood.

“I never saw it as significant or important,” she told the publication.

She admitted that if she were starting from scratch today, she probably wouldn’t make acting her career because as a famous person she has “the expectation” of revealing intimate details about her personal life.

She added: “When I started, it wasn’t a big expectation to be so public and share so much.”

She also joked that she “doesn’t really have a social life anymore” and that all of her “closest friends are refugees.”

The film star has worked with the UN refugee agency for more than two decades, visiting camps in Cambodia, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Pakistan over the years.

Angelina was involved in one of the most public breakups of all time, with the whole world watching as she and her ex Brad, 59, battled it out in court for the past seven years.

She spoke briefly about the dissolution of her marriage to WSJ, while also explaining why she decided to step away from the spotlight in recent years.

“We had to heal.” “There are things we needed to heal from,” she explained when the medium pointed out that she only appeared in five films over the course of her seven-year legal battle.

If Angelina takes a break from acting, that doesn’t mean she’ll stop working altogether, as the on-screen star shared, “I can’t stop. ‘I always think there’s going to be a fight.’

Angelina and Brad began dating in 2005 after meeting on the set of the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”.

They tied the knot during a secret ceremony in the south of France in August 2014 and welcomed three children together during their romance – Shiloh, now 17, in 2006 and twins Vivienne and Knox, now 15, in 2008.

They also adopted two others, Zahara, now 18, and Pax, now 20, and Brad legally adopted the son that Angelina had adopted before they got together, Maddox, now 22.

But things came to an explosive end in 2016 when the couple got into an alleged physical altercation on a private flight with their six children.

In May 2021, after years of court battles, Brad and Angelina were officially awarded joint custody of their six children – but a month later the judge’s decision was overturned.

Since their separation, the two stars have also been fighting in court over the winery they once owned together.
