Ukraine announced that it suffered a new attack by Russia on the night of Tuesday, December 5 to Wednesday, December 6, carried out using Iranian-made drones. “A total of 48 Shahed-136/131 drones were launched,” of which 41 were destroyed by anti-aircraft missiles, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram.
Russia launches drone and missile attacks against Ukraine almost every night. Kiev accuses the Kremlin of terrorizing civilians and destroying its energy infrastructure as winter approaches, a strategy already seen last year.
Since then, Ukraine has bolstered its air defense systems with Western weapons that can destroy much of the explosive drones or missiles sent by Russia. At the same time, millions of people have already been cut off from electricity in 2022 in the middle of a cold snap that Ukraine is desperate to avoid this year.
