Samsung's “Maintenance Mode” feature protects Galaxy users' privacy and data while your device is being serviced – Samsung

The Maintenance Mode feature hides and protects Canadians' personal information on Galaxy devices, preventing unauthorized access and data loss.

Protecting user privacy and data remains Samsung's priority. To further improve security and privacy on Samsung devices, Samsung has introduced a new Maintenance Mode feature for Galaxy users that helps protect Galaxy users' data while their device is being repaired at a service center.

When maintenance mode is enabled, users' personal information is hidden, including photos, videos, contacts, and messages. When users send in their device for repair, Maintenance Mode helps prevent the risk of unauthorized access to your device and, in most cases, prevents your data from being deleted from your device. When your device is in maintenance mode, the Samsung service center only has access to the basic functions of the device to perform service diagnostics and repairs.

When activated, maintenance mode configures a separate user profile, ensuring that the primary account and user data remain private. Users can enable maintenance mode either through the device's settings menu or through the Samsung Members app. Once the user picks up the device from the service center, they can turn off maintenance mode through the Settings menu and restore their data from a temporary cloud backup or external storage backup.

“At Samsung, we are committed to providing Canadians with a seamless and safe repair experience,” he said Frank Martino, Vice President, Business Services. “Our maintenance mode is another innovative feature to protect user privacy and give them peace of mind. »
