Accident involving a tanker truck carrying gasoline leads to a major fire

After an accident on a highway near Boynton Beach, Florida, a tanker truck carrying more than 28,000 liters of diesel exploded around 6 a.m. Friday morning, causing a major fire.

As CNN reports, the truck driver was able to get out of his vehicle and run away in time to escape uninjured.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Images captured by CNN show the extent of the fire, which at one point stretched dozens of meters along the road with flames rising high into the sky.

The dozens of firefighters on duty managed to extinguish the fire with the help of around 18 trucks on site and the highway was finally reopened to traffic around two hours after the accident.
