Huawei P70: At least one of the 2024 camera flagships will get a matching 1-inch sensor – notebookcheck.biz

This year, Huawei made headlines again after years of enforced silence. To everyone's surprise, the Mate 60 series was launched in China with banned chips and 5G support, and in 2024 the once popular smartphone manufacturer will not remain idle in Europe. At least there are currently signs of a real comeback for the flagship cameras of the P series, which last caused a stir in this country in 2019 with the P30 Pro.

In the past there have been one or two references to the Huawei P70, P70 Pro or the presumably renamed higher model P70 Art, most recently from an analyst. Recent reports also suggest a variant with a 50MP Omnivision OV50H camera sensor, which can currently be found in the Chinese iQOO 12 Pro and, with its 1/1.3-inch size, seems to deliver quite good photos. Even more interesting is of course the high-end model P70 Art, which will probably be the first Huawei model to be equipped with a 1-inch sensor.

According to various reports from

Currently, Huawei has around 2 million Sony IMX989 sensors in stock that may have been modified. According to old Huawei tradition, these would be RYYB pixel grids, and Huawei doesn't seem to be making full use of the huge sensor and is cropping it a bit. The sensor, apparently called IMX989Y, will be combined with 1G6P optics and variable aperture, and the P70 Pro and P70 Art will have an OV64B telephoto lens, according to the leaker. Huawei fans can also benefit from the new camera software XMAGE and Harmony OS4 in 2024.
