NHL: The Golden Knights correct the stars

The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Dallas Stars 6-1 on Saturday at the American Airlines Center.

Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud gave his team a 2-0 lead with 14:24 left in the first period. He took advantage of a great effort from William Carrier and Nicolas Roy to beat Jake Oettinger between the pads with a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle. This goal was also the one that gave his people victory.

The Stars goalkeeper had a tough afternoon of work, losing six of his opponents' 27 attempts. Logan Thompson, his counterpart on the Golden Knights, stopped 19 of the 20 pucks aimed at him.

The only answer from the local favorites came from the slugger of former Montreal Canadiens Evgenii Dadonov. The latter's goal midway through the first period allowed the Stars to reduce the score to 2-1.

Chandler Stephenson, Mark Stone, Roy, Pavel Dorofeyev and Paul Cotter were the other players on the Nevada team who got the red light. Additionally, 12 Las Vegas players blacked out the scoresheet.

The Golden Knights host the San Jose Sharks on Sunday. The Stars will be back in action on Monday when they host the Detroit Red Wings.
