The President of the United States, Joe Biden, invited the President of Ukraine, Volodmir Zelensky, to a meeting in Washington on Tuesday (12), said White House Press Secretary Karine JeanPierre.
According to a statement, the two leaders will discuss “Ukraine's most urgent needs” in the fight against the invasion.
The meeting would be a demonstration of Biden's “unwavering commitment” to Zelensky, even after the US Congress blocked sending more financial aid to Kiev.
Biden's last meeting with Zelensky took place in September of this year. The Ukrainian traveled to New York to attend the UN General Assembly and took advantage of a bilateral meeting.
At the time, the aim of the meeting was to win the support of US lawmakers to maintain the aid it was receiving to confront Moscow's troops.
Zelensky will travel to the United States after traveling to Argentina, where he attended the inauguration of President Javier Milei, who was elected at the end of November. This was his first visit to a Latin American country since the war with Russia began.
