Four good reasons to bet on the Hurricanes

Here's my favorite NHL pick for Thursday, December 7th. It is powered by one of my NHL betting systems called The Scoring Drought.

This betting strategy was developed after analyzing data from several seasons. Let me tell you how it works.

Suppose a team has lost its last two games and scored a maximum of three goals in each. They are worth betting on if they have odds above 1.80.

For example, the Hurricanes lost the first two games of their trip to the West Coast; 2-1 at the Jets and 6-1 at the Oilers.

The Hurricanes are the narrow favorites in Calgary on Thursday evening. According to “The Scoring Drought” betting system, we should choose them.

That's why my National Hockey League pick for December 7th is the Carolina Hurricanes over the Calgary Flames.

Other arguments

Can I give you further arguments in favor of choosing Carolina?

As of Wednesday night, Carolina had not lost consecutive games all season, aside from a three-game losing streak from Oct. 19-24.

That's a pretty impressive feat!

The Hurricanes will be looking to get back to winning ways, and Calgary is as good a place as any to do that.

Historically, the Hurricanes have played well against the Flames, going 5-1 against Calgary in their last six meetings. Additionally, the Hurricanes have played well this time of year, going 11-2 in their last 13 games in December.

Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom will be out for a while with a broken finger. Dan Vladar is expected to start Thursday night and will try to bounce back after allowing three goals on 16 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Wild.

This season, Vladar's record is 4-3-1, with a 3.45 GAA and .877 save percentage in eight games. If the Hurricanes want to find the back of the net, Thursday night is the time to do it.
