A six-story building appeared to collapse in the Bronx on Monday afternoon, creating a scene of destruction with a pile of rubble underneath.
The apartment complex in the Morris Heights neighborhood partially collapsed around 3:30 p.m., FDNY confirmed.
Photos of the scene showed that the bare walls of several apartment units were completely exposed.
A ground-level shed at the base of the building was surrounded by a pile of sheet metal, bricks and metal rods.
Rescue workers equipped with police dogs were at the scene of the collapsed building, searching for residents who might still be trapped inside.

The NYPD advised the public to avoid the area of West Burnside Avenue between Osborne Place and Phelan Place in the Bronx.
New York City Emergency Management also warned of traffic delays and road closures nearby.
No injuries were reported as of 4:30 p.m.
