At a time when several American elected officials are waging war on drag queens, Alaska Thunderfuck welcomes the appearance of Justin Trudeau on the set of the final season of Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs. the World. “I like it when politicians don't waste their time fighting art to distract from the real problems,” she says.
In the United States, the art of drag has become a political issue in recent months, with Tennessee in March becoming the first state to pass a law against the practice of the art in public places and places where minors are present.
Since then, no fewer than 13 other US states have followed suit, with politicians like Ron DeSantis – Florida governor and potential presidential candidate in 2024 – making drag queens one of their main targets. Meanwhile, in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau showed his support for these artists by visiting the set of Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs the World last year.
“I think it's great! I can't believe some people are focusing on the art of drag when climate change is very real, the war is absolutely terrible, military budgets are out of control… These issues are very real and Importantly, they deserve us to pay attention,” says Alaska Thunderfuck in an interview with the Journal.
“I actually think drag art is part of the solution and not part of the problem. “Anything that relaxes the strict rules around gender identity or expression and pushes people to question their assumptions can only make the world a better and kinder place,” the runner-up continues. Season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.

She's preparing to reconnect with Quebec by arriving at the National in Montreal on Tuesday with her “It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Alaska… A Christmas Show” tour. What awaits you this evening? The drag queen prefers to keep quiet about the details for the time being, but promises one thing: to limit the new Christmas songs performed on stage to the “strictest minimum”.
A strange decision to say the least, right?
“By the time people come to my show, they are already tired of hearing these songs in stores, on the radio and everywhere. That’s why I think they deserve a break,” laughs Alaska Thunderfuck.
Return to RuPaul's Drag Race?
The It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Alaska…A Christmas Show Tour will keep the drag queen busy until the end of December. But his schedule for the following weeks is strangely free. A detail that fans quickly noticed. And which fueled rumors of a possible – and hypothetical – return to RuPaul's Drag Race.
When questioned on this topic, the main interested party was evasive.
“You’d have to ask RuPaul,” she laughs.
“But if she invites me, I would definitely accept her invitation. I would love to compete again, I think the level is higher than ever. That’s why I would take the chance to go back and have fun in the workshop and on the bridge,” she concludes.
