Andres Andrade He came to Alianza Lima from Colombia's Atlético Nacional in early 2023. The coffee midfielder has been one of the undisputed starters since his arrival at the club, but a serious injury has kept him off the field until today. In August, the Blue and Whites reported that the “Rifle” had undergone knee surgery following a cruciate ligament injury. After this surgical procedure, Andrade will continue to recover for several months.
After “Rifle” was informed that he would not be continuing at Alianza Lima, the 34-year-old midfielder decided to break his silence in an interview in Colombia and spoke about how his departure came about.
The coffee player strongly pointed out that he felt unsupported and argued that he thought he couldn't be dissatisfied until he recovered, as is the case in countries such as Colombia and Argentina. However, this did not happen because Peruvian laws do not provide this protection for football players.
What did Andrés Andrade say about his departure from Alianza Lima?
“I was injured and I think I should have continued for another six months to recover like it happens in Colombia or Argentina. Unfortunately, the legislation in Peru is not like that and that played a trick on us,” he said for “VBAR Caracol Radio”.
Andrade said the Alianza Lima board told him they wanted him, but then the new coach and his technical command made the decision that he would not stay at the club.
“I've spoken to managers and they've told me they want me but they're waiting for the coaching staff's decision. When Alejandro Restrepo was appointed I was calm, but then they called me and told me that they would not renew the contract. After that, I had contact with the teacher and he told me that the decision had been made and there was nothing more I could do,” he explained.
The midfielder pointed out that it was his first serious injury and that his team did not support him. “It was a very hard blow for me. This has never happened to me in my career, it is the first serious injury I have had and my team is not supporting me with this injury. It was a big blow,” he said.
