Connor Bedard sends a message to Connor McDavid

It was the first time ever that Connor Bedard faced Connor McDavid in a matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and Oilers in Edmonton on Tuesday night, presented on TVA Sports.

And Bedard wasted no time in challenging McDavid, scoring a superb shot just over three minutes into the first half. Watch the video above.

Bedard demonstrated the full extent of his talent and the speed of his hands in the sequence.

McDavid then responded with an excellent throw to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins that tied the game at 1-1. Watch the video below:

McDavid also had a hand in his team's fourth unanswered goal, courtesy of Zach Hyman on a power play in the third period.

Leon Draisaitl and Sam Gagner scored the Oilers' other goals. Evan Bouchard collected two assists.

Bedard's twelfth goal of the season was the guests' only one.

The win went to Stuart Skinner, who made 21 saves.

At the other end of the ice, Petr Mrazek blocked 25 shots.

Thanks to this victory, the Oilers extended their winning streak to eight.

The Hawks, for their part, suffered their second defeat in a row.
