US and UK impose new sanctions on Hamas terrorists

The US and UK imposed new sanctions on Wednesday the 13th Hamas.

According to the US Treasury Department, the financial activities of eight members of the terrorist group who pursue their goals abroad are blocked in both countries. Prohibitions include making contributions or providing funds, goods or services by or to or for the benefit of any particular person and accepting contributions or providing funds, goods or services from any person.

“Hamas continues to rely heavily on networks of wellpositioned officials and allies and exploit seemingly permissive jurisdictions to conduct targeted fundraising campaigns on behalf of the group and channel these illicit proceeds to support its military activities in Gaza,” said the U.S. Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson.

“We, like our allies and partners, remain focused on using our collective tools and authority to weaken Hamas’s ability to finance further attacks and further destabilize the region,” he added.

One of the targets of the sanctions is Haroun Nasser AlDin, head of Hamas in Jerusalem and one of the terrorist group's most important financial agents in Turkey. He is involved in the network that transferred money from Turkey and the Gaza Strip to the Hamas command center in Hebron in the West Bank and helped subsidize Hamas activities to increase unrest in the West Bank.
