Wide receiver Tyson Philpot, even more popular for catching a game-winning throw with 13 seconds left in the recent Gray Cup final, will be celebrated by Alouettes fans through 2025.
The Alouettes organization actually announced on Wednesday that it had extended Philpot's contract by one year. This is important news, especially since the 23-year-old athlete is from British Columbia, providing great flexibility in terms of keeping the ratio of Canadian players.

“Tyson fully deserves this vote of confidence, he continues to improve and in his case the best is yet to come,” commented Éric Deslauriers, the Alouettes’ general manager of football operations, in a press release. He's gained experience this year and even though he's only in his second year in the CFL, he's never been afraid to take on more responsibility.
Lucky combination
Philpot could continue to be a prime target for quarterback Cody Fajardo over the next two years, as he also received a contract extension with the Alouettes through the end of the 2025 season last week.

Remember, the winning touchdown on a pass from Fajardo to Philpot allowed the Alouettes to beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-24 in the Gray Cup final. At the same time, Montreal won the eighth title in its history. Philpot finished with 63 yards on six catches in the same finale and was named Canadian player of the game. For his part, Fajardo received the title of Most Valuable Player in this final.
Philpot played in 13 regular season games in 2023, accumulating 532 yards and five touchdowns. As a rookie in 2022, he caught 39 passes for 459 yards and also scored two majors.
