Is it worth remembering what a good game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is? Tribute Games' nostalgic beat 'em up may have been released over a year ago, but it's still as fresh and delicious as a mushroom-free pizza. Regardless, Tribute has decided to add a layer with its first downloadable content, Dimension Shellshock.
The main innovation of this DLC is the access to a survival mode, in which you no longer progress through levels horizontally, but instead have to survive continuous waves of enemies by assembling crystals that allow you to advance to the next level and become even greater to face enemies.
Although this game mode can be dangerously monotonous, Tribute Games has managed to balance things well by incorporating interesting rewards at the end of the screen, including temporarily playing as non-player characters like Bebop and Rocksteady, or even as Shredder himself! The thematic addition of the multiverse is reminiscent of the golden years of comics and allows us to appreciate other aspects of the Ninja Turtles canon along the way. We will also appreciate a very effective narrative, despite the simplicity of games of this genre.
Another addition that will surely delight fans of the franchise is the addition of Miyamoto Usagi and Karai, two canonical characters from the famous franchise. Usagi's inclusion in the game has been requested since the release of the original title, and her inclusion is sure to bring joy to cabins as the holiday season begins.
And like the rest of the game, Survival Mode is much better when shared: up to six players can enjoy it at the same time.
