While we thought that the health system could not deteriorate any further, the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, pushed through a reform that would put an end to it and that could consequently cost the health or even the lives of many Quebecers.
This is neither a vague idea nor a forecast, but a forecast.

The creation of Santé Québec is essentially an administrative reform aimed at centralizing the network's activities in order to coordinate its activities. However, there is nothing original about this approach. Mr. Dubé simply copied a system that had been tried and tested many times… especially in the USSR!
Lenin wanted to spread communism throughout the world. He would be extremely proud of Comrade Dubé's plan and his undemocratic way of imposing a silence order on him!
Our health system, already largely Sovietized, will therefore be even more Sovietized. And the failings we are denouncing today will not only not be remedied, but will actually get worse.
The bureaucracy is getting harder. Human resources management becomes more inefficient. Waiting times will increase and the overall system will become more rigid.
We also anticipate that a system will be slow to adopt new medical technologies, shortages of nursing staff and equipment will increase, and therefore access to healthcare will be limited. And when care is provided, the quality varies from facility to facility.
Craziness
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, centralized models implemented reforms to introduce market elements. Either Dubé has learned nothing from history, or he believes he is capable of succeeding where others have failed.
So let's not expect anything positive from the announced reform. On the other hand! And let's call it what it is: the central planning planned with the creation of Santé Québec is brutal communism!
