Cosmocité hosts a journalist residency on immersion in scientific culture – Echosciences Grenoble

In November and December 2023, Cosmocité hosted a journalist in residence in its immersive rooms, who focused on innovative scientific communication formats. Return to this experience.

In 2023, Amcsti, the professional network of scientific, technical and industrial cultures, in collaboration with AJSPI, the Association of French Science Journalists, launched a short-stay program that allows science journalists to observe the mediation work and daily life of scientific cultural structures in their place or at Roaming.

The objectives of this program are to establish a connection between scientific cultural structures and scientific journalists, to enable journalists to participate in outreach and training measures in a scientific approach, and to confront editorial teams with the reality of the public and its questions in all areas.

In this context, for six half days in November and December 2023, the Territoire de Sciences welcomed the journalist Emma Bellavia, winner of the Science & Vie 2023 prize for young science journalist and student of the master's program in Scientific and Technical Communication and Culture (CCST).) of of the University of Grenoble Alpes and member of the scientific mediation association Auroralpes.

The theme of this residency revolved around the idea of ​​immersion in museums and science centers. A topic that the journalist was able to question through exchanges with numerous local actors and through experiences in the Planetarium and the Immersive Room at Cosmocité. She discussed the following topics:

The notion of immersion in scientific cultural formats in France and internationally (ECSITE, HUB Montreal, SPACE Consortium, etc.) with Audrey Korczynska, project manager at Territoire de Sciences.

The planetarium and the immersive space of Cosmocité, their technical features and the formats developed there in collaboration with local partners (researchers, teachers) and technical service providers, with Emmanuel Laisné and Fanny Musso, project manager and mediator-designer at Territoire de Wissenschaften

The escape game “Ice Core Adventure” (Théoriz / RSA Cosmos / Territoire de Sciences), with the scientific facilitators Julien Dang and Manon Pellissier, who moderated the game and presented the peculiarities of the facilitator's work in this format , as well as glaciologist Bruno Jourdain (UGA / OSUG), scientific advisor to the project

This residency was an opportunity for all speakers to talk about their work and current projects in terms of synthesis and reflection, but also to meet again and outline new perspectives.
