Centre-du-Québec: A violent fire destroys a Rona warehouse in Wickham –

A fierce fire severely damaged a Rona warehouse in Wickham, Center du Quebec, on the night of Thursday to Friday.

According to initial information, the fire broke out shortly after 11 p.m. in the warehouse on Rue Principale, near the intersection with Rue Blanchard.

When firefighters arrived, the fire had already spread and the flames were spreading to the roof of the warehouse, so a mechanical excavator was called to the scene.

Firefighters from neighboring communities such as Saint Nazaire d'Acton, Acton Vale and Saint-Germain were called to the rescue to help their colleagues from Drummondville.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) evacuated surrounding homes but no one was injured, its spokesman said, adding that the cause of the fire was not yet known.

The damage caused by the flames to the building structure and equipment inside the camp was significant, it was stated, without being able to assess it.

In addition, Route 139 was closed from 9th onwards by Department of Transport teams who set up a detour to prevent motorists from avoiding the sector.
