A grenade attack on a city plenary session in western Ukraine has left at least one dead and 26 injured

A Ukrainian city councilor detonated several grenades this Friday during a community plenary session in the town hall of the city of Keretsk in the Zakarpattia region in the west of the country, Ukrainian police reported on social networks. According to preliminary information, at least one person died and another 26 were injured, six of them seriously. The event was recorded and the images show a man – later identified by local media as Sergei Batrin, a council member of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Servant of the People party – entering a room and, after a brief conversation, leaving his bags and appears to throw grenades to the ground. Shortly afterwards they explode. The case was referred to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) as it involved a possible terrorist attack.

Local media Zakarpattia24 reported that Batrin spoke with his colleagues about a salary increase for civil servants in the city. Minutes after the altercation, the alleged perpetrator left the scene and returned with the explosive devices, according to the publication.
