Young 11-year-old ice hockey player hit by a puck succumbs to his injuries –

The young 11-year-old ice hockey player who was hit by a puck while training at the Saint-Eustache Arena on Tuesday evening died from his injuries.

The local police confirmed this in a press release on Friday afternoon.

“This morning we were sadly informed of the child’s death. We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones,” said Lieutenant Olivier Boucher of the Saint-Eustache police.

Authorities determined it was a tragic accident and no criminal elements were identified in the case. A forensic medical examination will be carried out to understand the causes and circumstances and make recommendations if necessary.

Emergency crews were called to the Walter Buswell complex around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. On site they discovered a young 11-year-old ice hockey player lying unconscious on the ground. He had just taken a puck in the throat. The completely random throw was made by a teammate.

The young man was taken to the hospital, where the staff managed to restore the pulse through resuscitation maneuvers. But his condition later deteriorated – he had to remain on life support since late Tuesday. He finally succumbed to his injuries in the final hours.
