Ambassador Gilad Erdan told the United Nations General Assembly that Israel protected Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy site for Muslims in Jerusalem, from Hamas.
In his speech on X on Saturday evening, Erdan wrote: “Israel defends Al-Aqsa Mosque from Hamas rockets‼️.”
“Just as ISIS destroyed mosques, Hamas-ISIS is ready to blow up Al-Aqsa. For Hamas, the murder of Israelis is more important than Islamic shrines. That's what I said today in the UN General Assembly when I showed the Iron Dome's interception of a Hamas rocket fired at the Temple Mount. These are the terrorists the UN has chosen to protect. Incredible‼️”

The impassioned speech began with Erdan saying: “Today Hamas has proven that murdering Israelis is even more important than preserving the Islamic holy sites it claims to protect.”
Erdan then played a video of sirens wailing in Jerusalem. He said the rockets were fired at the Temple Mount, a holy site for Abrahamic religions located beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Advertising
“Israel's Iron Dome intercepted the missile,” Erdan informed the UN, “it was defending Al-Aqsa Mosque from Hamas…Israel is defending Al-Aqsa Mosque from Hamas.”
He then turned to the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He asked the groups, “This is who you want to defend?” A group of genocidal terrorists who prefer jihad to holy sites at all costs?
“Just as ISIS destroyed mosques, Hamas-ISIS is ready to blow up Al-Aqsa.
“So many of you are willing to defend her, it’s incredible.”
Hamas' crimes against Arabs
While Hamas claims to be an Islamic organization, its attack on October 7 also included the killing and kidnapping of Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.
The Bedouin siblings Belal and AIsha Zaidna were taken hostage by Hamas and released two weeks ago. The whereabouts of her father and siblings remain unknown.
Amir Tanabura, a Palestinian from Gaza who was living in Israel, was also killed by Hamas terrorists on October 7. The 20-year-old Arabic-speaking man had just bought cigarettes when terrorists shot him.
