An American destroyer shot down 14 drones from Houthicontrolled regions of Yemen in the Red Sea this Saturday (16), reported the US military command in the Middle East (Centcom). They were “identified as attack drones and shot down without causing any damage to ships in the region and without any injuries being reported,” Centcom said on its account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The operation, led by the destroyer USS Carney, was carried out “in the early hours of Saturday morning,” the US Army said.
In response to the war between that country and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Iranaligned Houthis had already warned that they would attack ships sailing along the Yemeni coast with ties to Israel.
