Bruins end Islanders' success

The Boston Bruins needed the shootout, but they managed to stop the New York Islanders' winning streak.

On Friday night, the team from Massachusetts won 5-4 at the UBS Arena. It was the first time in five games that the “Islanders” didn’t feel the joy of victory.

In the closing stages of this game, David Pastrnak and Charlie Coyle found a way to get the puck behind Ilya Sorokin's back. Islanders forward Simon Holmstrom also scored in the shootout, but teammates Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat were frustrated by Linus Ullmark.

Pastrnak, Morgan Geekie, James van Riemsdyk and Mason Lohrei scored the winning goals in regulation time, while Horvat, Holmstrom, Brock Nelson and Alexander Romanov scored the losing goals.

Another loss for the Ducks

At Madison Square Garden, Chris Kreider scored two goals and the New York Rangers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 5-1.

The Californian club suffered its fifth defeat in a row. This is the Ducks' second-longest losing streak since hostilities began in 2023-2024.

Jimmy Vesey, Mika Zibanejad and Adam Edstrom were the Blueshirts' other scorers, while defenseman Adam Fox had two assists.

The only success for the Ducks was Brett Leason's bat.

Back to Kreider: The 32-year-old veteran has 16 hits in 28 games this season. He has now scored 281 goals in his career, making him third all-time goalscorer in Rangers history. He also reached the milestone of 500 career points.

Victorious comeback for the “Preds”

At PNC Arena, the Nashville Predators scored three unanswered goals and defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-5 in overtime.

It was Filip Forsberg who played the hero of extra time. Defenders Jérémy Lauzon and Tyson Barrie were the other two authors of the visitors' victorious comeback.

Ryan O'Reilly and Roman Josi also played their part in the Nashville club's success, each scoring a goal and two assists. The other goalscorer for the “Preds” was Juuso Parssinen.

For the Canes, Martin Necas, Stefan Noesen, Sebastian Aho, Jalen Chatfield and Anthony DeAngelo brought the puck behind the goal line.
