The radio star reveals her surprising regrets about gastric band surgery

Perth Nova FM star Natalie Locke has undergone an incredible weight loss journey this year, losing “just over 41kg”, but she has one surprising regret.

The radio host achieved the major change by undergoing gastric band surgery in December last year, and on Sunday she penned a detailed article about her experience.

After having the band for a year and achieving her weight loss goals, Nat wrote in Perth Now that her only regret was “not getting the surgery sooner”.

“I put off doing this for several years, mostly because I didn't agree with the first surgeon I consulted, and now it feels like I've wasted those interim times,” she said.

“I also regret that I was excited in the first few months and bought a lot of new clothes because the clothes are too big for me now.”

Nat updated her listeners on her weight loss journey in October when she spoke about it with her team on Nova 93.7's Nathan, Nat & Shaun.

Co-host Shaun McManus said: “It was December last year, wasn't it?” as Nat mentioned she was feeling “really good” after 10 months.

“It was, and weight-wise, I lost just over 90 pounds,” she replied.

She continued, “People say, 'Oh, do you have more energy?'” It's like, no, I still have to get up at 4 a.m. So this is a real energy vampire.

“But when we're on vacation I feel like I'm making a million dollars, which is really good.” [The number] It's amazing how many people have contacted me on social media.

“People have said to me, 'Oh, I had that done, but I never really talked about it.'

“Yes, because there is a real stigma.” And I don’t think that should be the case. “It should remain a health decision.”
