“Of course we are often shocked by Gérard's comments, but our father/grandfather/uncle is subjected to unprecedented intrigue,” write several members of his family, including his daughter, actress Julie Depardieu, in a column published by the Journal du Dimanche.

They complain about a “collective anger” against the actor and assert that “in private, with his children, he is someone extremely modest, delicate and even prudish!”

On Saturday, the star actor told AFP through his lawyers that he was putting his Legion of Honor “at the disposal” of French Culture Minister Rima Abdul Malak. The latter announced on Friday a disciplinary procedure that could lead to the withdrawal of this prestigious award.

In this press release, I Béatrice Geissmann Achille and I Christian Saint-Palais wondered whether the minister was not dealing “an additional blow to an already dying presumption of innocence”.

Gérard Depardieu has been accused of rape since 2020 after a complaint was made by a French actress, Charlotte Arnould, whose allegations he denies.

But it was only the recent broadcast of a report from the “Complément d'investigation” program on France 2 that caused a shock wave.

In these pictures, the actor repeats misogynistic and offensive remarks while addressing women and does not spare any little girl with his obscene remarks.

At the same time as the broadcast, a second complaint of sexual assault was filed by the actress Hélène Darras due to a priori established facts during a shoot in 2007. The actor also denies these allegations.

The broadcast of this documentary had an international response. The actor of “Cyrano de Bergerac” or “1492: Christophe Colomb” was thus removed from the National Order of Quebec and his title as an honorary citizen of the municipality of Estaimpuis in Belgium.
