World Juniors: a second participation for Lane Hutson

For the second year in a row, Canadian prospect Lane Hutson of Montreal will be the quarterback of the American defensive unit at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.

The 19-year-old guard has been named to the squad that will take part in the holiday tournament in Gothenburg, Sweden. He is notably accompanied by a second player drafted by CH, goalkeeper Jacob Fowler.

Hutson still dominates the NCAA with Boston University. He has 20 points in 15 games this season, the third-highest point total for a defenseman. For the Terriers, he trails only upcoming National League draft prospect Macklin Celebrini.

In his first appearance at the World Juniors, the 2022 second-round pick collected four points in seven games. Hutson helped the United States win a bronze medal.

For Fowler, it is his first time taking part in this prestigious event. The Florida native was tough at Boston College, where he posted a 13-3-1 record, .925 save percentage and 2.16 goals against average in his first season.

The 19-year-old was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for October and November. He will have competition in front of the Americans' net, as the promising Trey Augustine is back in the squad. At just 17 years old, he played in all seven of the team's games last year.

The Junior World Championships will take place from December 26th to January 5th.
