The photo of the meeting between Milton Nascimento and Paul McCartney was published this Sunday (17) on the Brazilian's Instagram. In the picture they both appear smiling, Milton is wearing a Paul shirt, and the exBeatle is holding a Milton LP in his hand. Augusto, Nascimento's son, took to his Instagram profile to reveal more details about how the photo was taken and the family's relationship with the Beatles, the band that brought McCartney to worldwide fame since the 1960s.
“My father and I had the opportunity to meet our idol together. And it was magical to see him in the role of a fan for the first time. “He came out of the locker room with the same bright eyes that people always look at him everywhere,” he said about the moment of the photo. Milton attended the show on December 4th in Belo Horizonte.
According to him, the Beatles' songs were a source of controversy up to a certain age. While the son didn't like it, the father was the “biggest fan in the world” for the band. Everything changed when Augusto heard “The Long and Winding Road” and his perception changed.
Since then, the quartet consisting of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison has become a “religion” in the house. “We have souvenirs everywhere, I have a tattoo, we discovered alternative approaches, we explored the solo careers of each member and we immerse ourselves in this vast and beautiful musical universe every day,” he says.
When Augusto learned that the singer's tour would go through Brazil, he planned to try to attend all the shows in the end, he managed to attend eight of the nine performances. This led to him getting closer to the show's organizing team, Bonus Track, and from there to the meeting of the two music icons.
“My favorite moments with my father are our days on the road, and those moments are absolutely filled and fulfilled with this great discography. We always listen to the Beatles from the front door to the final destination,” says Augusto.
Milton Nascimento attended Paul McCartney's show in Belo Horizonte on December 4th with fellow musician Lô Borges. In a video, he emphasized the possibility of living “timeless dreams” while listening to the song “A Hard Day's Night.”
