The document also calls for the establishment of UN monitoring of aid provided. The resolution stipulates that access to the Gaza Strip should be provided by land, sea and air routes.
The draft resolution being voted on today calls for, as the Times of Israel expects, “an urgent and sustained cessation of hostilities to allow safe and unhindered humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip” and the “immediate and unconditional release of all.” the hostages''. The current draft, which was rejected on December 9th due to the US veto, does not explicitly name Hamas but instead condemns “all indiscriminate attacks on civilians”.
The resolution also expressed support for a two-state solution in the region and “underscored the importance of uniting the Gaza Strip with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority.”
