Hezbollah claims three new attacks against northern Israel

Beirut, December 18 (EFE). – The Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah claimed responsibility this Monday for three new attacks on various military positions in northern Israel, in another day of tension and violence on the border between Lebanon and the Jewish state.

In a series of statements, Hezbollah claimed it had attacked “a concentration of Israeli soldiers and vehicles near the Hamra site,” near the border, in northern Israel “with appropriate weapons,” which it did not specify.

Throughout the day, the militias used artillery to attack “two platforms of the Iron Dome (Israeli air defense system) in the north of the colony of Capri, causing targeted hits.”

They later “fired a series of rockets/missiles against the occupied village of Al Jalisa (Kiryat Shmona colony) in response to Israel’s attack on the funeral ceremony in Aita al Shaab.”

According to the statements, none of the attacks caused any casualties, although it said that “any harm to the civilian population is reciprocal.”

Yesterday, Sunday, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for five attacks on military positions in northern Israel, which has more than 200,000 soldiers stationed on its northern border.

The border between Israel and Lebanon is experiencing its highest tension since the war between Israeli troops and Hezbollah in 2006, with a shootout that began on October 8, a day after the war broke out between Israel and the Islamist group. Hamas, which killed more than 18,200 people in the Gaza Strip.

In just over two months, the outbreak of violence between the parties forced more than 55,000 people to flee their homes in southern Lebanon, causing dozens of deaths – including civilians – on that side alone, hundreds of injuries and significant damage to property along the border. EFE
