This Monday (18), Marvel Studios announced that Jonathan Majors has been officially dismissed from its productions. The statement came after the actor's conviction for harassment and assault in Manhattan, New York.
At the end of March this year, Majors had a disagreement with his exgirlfriend Grace Jabbari. Despite the conviction, the full verdict will be published in February 2024.
When the actor was arrested, his lawyer was convinced of his innocence and claimed that there had just been a disagreement between the couple. Nevertheless, there were no statements from Marvel about the actor's behavior.
This is worth highlighting Majors was positioned as a key figure in the next phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His character, the villain Kang the Conqueror, would be one of the most important parts of most films and series that have not yet been released, including the feature film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, scheduled for May 2026.
The actor's first appearance as one of Kang's variants took place in the 2021 series Loki. In February of this year, he also appeared in AntMan and the Wasp: Quantumania and in the second season of the series with the Norse god of Tricks.

Kang: What is the role of the villain in the MCU?
Despite the dismissal Marvel has not yet announced which path it will take from here on out. However, Sources close to the company consulted by The Hollywood Reporter argue that a solution has been sought since the initial controversy with the majors.
Furthermore, the feature film focusing on Kang is still in the script stage and filming has not yet started. In fact, no director has been hired yet, which could facilitate changes to the project.
Among the options being speculated by the international press is casting a new actor for the character, which would be nothing new for Marvel. Another solution would be to introduce a new, important villain like Kang in new MCU productions and thus ensure a strong successor to Thanos.
