The 51-year-old author told AFP that last Thursday she filed a complaint with the Spanish police about a rape that allegedly took place during an interview with the French actor on October 12, 1995 in Paris for the magazine Cinemanía, and confirmed the information disclosed by the Spanish daily newspaper La Vanguardia.

Ruth Baza, who was 23 at the time and the actor was 46, spoke of “an intervention without consent, at any time” and said she felt “paralyzed” during the events that allegedly took place on the premises of the former production. felt company Roissy Films.

In Spain, the criminal offense of “sexual assault” also includes rape in the criminal code.

Ruth Baza spoke to the AFP of a “sexual assault”, but when asked whether it was a rape, Ms Baza replied in the affirmative: “The police qualified it as such.”

Police and prosecutors told AFP they could not confirm the filing of this complaint. It would be the third since 2018 directed at the actor for sexual violence.

The journalist told AFP that she had “completely” forgotten the facts until she read the investigation published in April by the information site Mediapart, in which thirteen women accused the actor of sexual violence.

This article triggered “an inner trigger” and “flashes of memory” in her, which were supported by personal notes from the time that she claimed to have found.

From a legal point of view, this complaint has little chance of success, as the facts are prescribed in France from the outset.

However, she explains that she decided to file a complaint in the hopes that it might “help other people” do the same.

Gérard Depardieu has been accused of rape since 2020 after actress Charlotte Arnould filed a complaint. Accusations that he denies.

The broadcast of a report from the “Complément d'investigation” program on the France 2 television channel at the beginning of December triggered a new shock wave. We see how this figure of French cinema multiplies misogynistic and offensive remarks while addressing women, not even sparing a little girl with his obscene remarks.

At the same time, actress Hélène Darras filed a second complaint of sexual assault, apparently on a set in 2007. The actor also denies these allegations.
