The G7 wants a “robust” response to North Korea’s missile launches

In a statement released on Tuesday, G7 foreign ministers called for a “robust international response” to North Korea's missile launches.

“North Korea’s repeated reckless actions require a strong, rapid and unified international response, particularly from the United Nations Security Council,” the ministers said in a federal government statement.

North Korea on Monday tested its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States. This is the latest record in a series of records this year that has once again drawn international criticism.

“We, the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and the High Representative of the European Union, strongly condemn the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile by North Korea on December 18,” they said in their press release.

“We are deeply concerned about a possible transfer of ballistic or nuclear missile technology to North Korea, which could further threaten peace and stability in the region and around the world,” the ministers added.
