The Indianapolis Colts have suspended receiver-punt returner Isaiah McKenzie and cornerback Tony Brown for the final three games of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the team.

Suspensions of individual players by teams are rare in the NFL. Typically, player penalties are administered by league headquarters. Suspensions typically involve violations of the league's personal conduct policy or violations of player safety rules. The Colts did not provide further details about the incident in their announcement Tuesday.

Both players made their biggest impact this season on special teams and both were inactive for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh. McKenzie played in all 13 games prior to Saturday and was the team's primary kick and punt returner.

In a corresponding move, the Colts promoted running back Tyler Goodson from the practice squad back to the active squad. Goodson had his first runs of the season in Saturday's 30-13 win, finishing the game with 11 carries for 69 yards.

The Colts (8-6) could need ball carriers this week. Jonathan Taylor has missed Indy's last three games after undergoing surgery on his right thumb, and his replacement, Zack Moss, made just four appearances against the Steelers before injuring his right arm, which he broke in the preseason had.

Coach Shane Steichen has not said whether Taylor or Moss are expected to play Sunday at (6-8) Atlanta.
