Although government funding for electric cars ended abruptly, there was a strong final push. The responsible Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) recorded rising figures following the initially unclear announcements last Wednesday (13 December). On Thursday, the federal authority reported 1,875 funding requests, almost 400 more than the previous day.
A real rush occurred on Saturday, when 7,295 applications were submitted. The federal government announced the end date on Saturday morning. Another 4,376 registrations were registered on Sunday. Since then, the institution will no longer accept applications and will process existing applications in the order in which they were received.
