“The last time Democrats stopped someone from running was in 1860, when they didn’t want Abraham Lincoln’s name in the slave states.” Donald Trump wrote this on the social media site Truth, attacking the Supreme Court ruling of Colorado, which had barred him from running for office in the state under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution because he had participated in an insurrection.
The tycoon continues to blame Democrats for the ruling and in response releases a poll that gives him a large lead over his Republican rivals. According to Interactive Polls, the former US president would actually have 67% of the Grand Old Party's voter preferences, compared to 11% for Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.
