The battle for box office supremacy has reached its final phase between two mammoth projects, Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki and Prashanth Neel and Prabhas' Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. Both the films release in theaters a day apart, but from the second day until the end of the Christmas season, both would try to attract the maximum number of viewers for their films. The year definitely belongs to Shah Rukh Khan after he delivered back-to-back blockbusters in Jawan and Pathaan, but the journey for his third film of the year, Dunki, won't be that easy.

The film, which hits theaters on Thursday (today), has already secured Rs 15.41 crore in advance sales for its around 15,000 performances, sold 5,58,766 tickets and is expected to finish, according to industry tracker Sacnilk as of 6 am of the day his total collection sold around 30 to 35 Crore Rupees. Upon arrival in Salaar, which is reportedly not getting enough screens in North India because the distributors of Dunki are demanding all the shows for themselves and the makers of Salaar are planning to remove all their shows from PVR Inox and Miraj cinemas still expecting a better start. According to the latest figures, the company has secured Rs 29.35 crore from its 10,000 screens in advance sales for Day 1 alone, selling 14,00,839 tickets. It must be noted that ticket prices are capped in South India and the makers of Salaar had to go to court to get permission to increase the price, which they managed to do only for 10 days. As per pre-sales, Salaar is expected to open somewhere in the range of Rs 55-60 crore. The numbers could take a serious hit if a compromise is not reached on the PVR Inox and Miraj issues and the shows are stopped.
