A photo of a demonstration that took place in Argentina in 2019 is circulating as if it shows a current protest against Milei

During a protest last Wednesday (20) against the government of Javier Milei, a photo showing thousands of people on an avenue in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was not recorded. The outofcontext image was taken in August 2019 during Mauricio Macri's government, when social movements organized an action to demand action against hunger.

The record was taken out of context

It was taken in 2019 and not during a recent protest against Argentine President Javier Milei, a photo showing a large crowd on Avenida 9 de Julho in Buenos Aires. The image is from August of that year, when thousands of people demonstrated near the headquarters of Argentina's Ministry of Health, demanding that the government expand its measures to combat hunger.

The demonstration was called by CTEP (Central de Trabalhadores da Economia Popular) and other social movements and took place in the months leading up to the Argentine election. The president at the time was Mauricio Macri.

However, the fact is that last Wednesday evening (20) there was a demonstration against Javier Milei. Participants opposed the economic measures and decrees announced by the new president related to the suppression of protests. Records show that there were clashes between the public and the police during the crime.
