Earlier this week, Jonathan Majors was recently found guilty in court of third-degree harassment and assault, leading to his almost immediate firing by Marvel Studios.
Majors played variations of the character Kang the Conqueror in both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and both seasons of Loki – a being capable of traveling between timelines and dimensions and interacting with alternate versions of himself to work together yourself.
This all led to the planned crossover film “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” for 2026. Following its release, the film's title was changed to “Avenger 5” and it is not yet known whether Marvel will either write out or recast the character.
If they decide to recast, one name that has been popping up a lot online as a potential replacement is former Star Wars star John Boyega. When this suggestion was made, Boyega himself reached out Twitter Today he had an answer.
This answer? A GIF of Donkey from “Shrek” shaking his head with a very clear “no” sign. The reaction is not surprising because even though he has dabbled in Hollywood franchises in the past, the actor has no desire to return there and has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with this approach.
Boyega has previously rejected the idea of working on a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, telling Men's Health last year that it was “not in my vision right now” and that he wanted to “do nuanced things.” He also says that it's “really hard to top 'Iron Man' in this universe.”
