Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider denied making a death threat against President Joe Biden after calling for the president to be “publicly hanged.”
Schneider, 63, attempted to retract his controversial post on Thursday, saying he never implied threats or violence and recommended the public reread his post, which has been deleted since Thursday.
“Seriously, guys? This is my last comment on it. “I neither said nor implied anything like that,” Schneider said, according to TMZ.
“Despite headlines claiming the opposite, I absolutely did not call for an act of violence or a threat against a US president in my post, as many other celebrities have done in the past,” he added.
The statement came a day after he posted a troubling message on X, formerly Twitter, aimed at Biden and his son Hunter.

“Although the headlines claimed otherwise, I was in no way calling for an act of violence or threatening a U.S. president in my post, as many other celebrities have done in the past,” Schneider said.
The 63-year-old actor made the apparent death threat in a response to a post by Biden about former President Donald Trump.
Biden's post said: “Trump poses many threats to our country: the right to vote, the right to vote, and America's standing in the world.” But the greatest threat he poses is to our democracy. If we lose this, we lose everything.'
After deleting the post, Schneider said on Thursday: “I suggest you re-read my actual post and pay attention to the words before you believe this nonsense.”
“It is my position that some of our country’s leaders have lost their way in Washington and corruption is rampant both at our nation’s borders and abroad,” the statement continued.
“Transparency and accountability must be ensured for our constitutional republic to survive.” There is no threat or threat in this statement.'

The Secret Service responded: “The Secret Service is aware of Mr. Schneider's comments and, as a practical matter, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence.”

Comedian Kathy Griffin has claimed she was investigated by the Secret Service after posing with a dummy of Trump's head in 2017.
She said she was under federal investigation and was even placed on the no-fly list, while at the same time being “interrogated under oath.”

In 2018, Schneider said it was time for “Hollywood stars to come out of the Republican closet” after he was released from prison for failing to pay spousal support.
The actor claimed at the time that Republican stars faced political bias and increased scrutiny – and that's exactly what he found himself on the receiving end of during a messy child support battle in court.
“I do believe there is a bias against conservatives and Republicans in Hollywood, but I think if you allow that to change your ways, then I question how you feel,” Schneider said in an interview with Fox News after his release.
