At around 11:30 p.m., the emergency number 911 was called because shots were fired at the facade of a bar on Avenue André Ampère, near Boulevard Armand-Bombardier, in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector, in the northeast of the city.

The Municipal Police Department (SPVM) says a 53-year-old client suffered a “superficial and possibly broken window” injury to his lower body. She was transported to a hospital center.

“According to initial information, one or more suspects fired shots at the front of the restaurant and then fled before police arrived. Bullet casings were found on the ground,” reports a spokeswoman for the SPVM, agent Caroline Chrèvrefils.

As the night began, police continued their investigation and reported no arrests.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians analyzed the crime scene to better understand the circumstances surrounding the event. Any surveillance cameras installed nearby would also be checked, the SPVM said.
