Donald Trump “certainly supported an insurrection, there is no doubt about it, none,” US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday in response to a spectacular decision by the Colorado Supreme Court the day before.

However, the 81-year-old Democrat said he was not “commenting” on the court's decision itself after that court declared his predecessor ineligible for the presidency because of his actions during the storming of the Capitol.
“I'll let the court decide whether the 14th Amendment applies,” he said upon arrival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, north-central, where he is traveling for the day.
The Colorado Supreme Court concluded that Donald Trump “rebelled on January 6, 2021 during the attack on the Capitol,” concluding that the 14th Amendment used to assert his ineligibility was good applies to a president.
The justices therefore ordered election authorities in this western state to remove Donald Trump's name from the ballot for the 2024 Republican primary, in which he is the heavy favorite.
The former Republican president “certainly supported an insurrection, there is no doubt about it, none. Zero. And he gives the impression that he is making it clear again,” said Joe Biden, himself a candidate for a second term.
In the election campaign, the American president is primarily focusing on the “threat” that Donald Trump poses, in his opinion, to American democracy.
The Supreme Court's decision in Colorado, a state that overwhelmingly voted for Joe Biden in 2020, sparked near-unanimous outrage from the Republican Party.
All eyes are now on the United States Supreme Court, where the former Republican president will appeal.
