Horrifying moment a pedestrian is killed in a hit-and-run in Los Angeles after lying down in the middle of the road

Horrifying footage released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a pedestrian being struck and killed by a driver while lying on the road.

The unidentified victim had walked to the middle of Western Avenue near the intersection of Vernon Avenue around 2 a.m. on Dec. 17.

The footage shows the man falling on the street. Police were unable to determine whether he collapsed or fell intentionally.

The man lay in the middle of the street for a few seconds before a woman noticed him on the sidewalk.

The video then shows a car speeding toward the pedestrian as the woman waves her arms violently in the air to signal the car to stop.

Another four cars drove past the victim after he was hit before the woman ran onto the road to help him.

In a news release, officials said the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and died from his injuries.

Once the driver is identified, he could face charges of involuntary manslaughter.

The LAPD also warned drivers and pedestrians in the release about the dangers of speeding and reckless driving.

“Motorists are reminded to drive at a safe speed for the conditions; Speeding and reckless driving have serious consequences.

“If you are involved in a collision, you should stop and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services and remain at the scene of the accident to identify yourself.”

“The public is also reminded that as pedestrians they should follow traffic rules and walk on designated sidewalks such as sidewalks and zebra crossings,” police said.
