The New Orleans Saints blocked a fourth-quarter punt and scored two touchdowns, but their poor start hurt them in a 30-22 loss to the Rams on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
Quarterback Derek Carr tried everything at the end of the game. His men were down 30-7 with just under 13 minutes left. He connected with Juwan Johnson in the end zone, then the special teams players threw themselves in front of Ethan Evans' punt to recover the ball.

This time Carr found AT Perry for the touchdown and then converted two points. However, the Saints (7-8) ran out of time as the Rams jealously guarded the ball on their next possession.
Matthew Stafford collected the long passes for the Rams (8-7), completing 24 passes for 328 yards. Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson had majors and Lucas Havrisik converted three of his four field goal attempts.
With its second win in a row, Los Angeles defends its second place in the National Association West Section. The Seahawks (7-7) will have a chance to be in action on Sunday when they face the Tennessee Titans.
