Three short films from Quebec in the Oscar race

As we learned on Thursday, three short films from Quebec were on the shortlist of films shortlisted for the Oscar race.

“Invincible” by Vincent-René Lortie and “Chat mort” by Annie-Claude Caron and Danick Audet are among the 15 films preselected in the Best Short Fiction category, while “Oasis” by Justine Martin took a place among the 15 titles for selected the Oscar for best documentary short film.

Toronto director Nisha Pahuja's feature film “To Kill a Tiger” is on the list of 15 semi-finalists for the Oscar for best documentary film.

However, the documentary “Rojek,” which was supposed to represent Canada in the race for the Oscar for best international film, was not chosen among the 15 semi-finalists in this category.

The shortlists for the ten categories were announced by the Academy of Oscars on Thursday afternoon. We will find out whether the films appearing there will be selected among the five finalists in their respective categories when the nominations are announced on January 23rd.

The 96th Academy Awards will take place on March 10 in Hollywood.
