More than 700 Airbus Atlantic employees fall ill with diarrhea and vomiting after company's Christmas dinner

  • It is unknown what was on the menu and what caused the mass food poisoning

Health authorities say more than 700 Airbus Atlantic employees in western France fell ill with food poisoning at their company's Christmas dinner.

The workers at the aerospace company's site suffered from vomiting and diarrhea, the health authority ARS said.

It is unknown what was on the menu for the festive dinner.

There is also no current information about why the December 15th dinner turned into a nightmare.

An investigation is underway to find the cause of the mass food poisoning.

This comes after another incident in France earlier this year in which several people fell ill and a Greek national died after eating at a restaurant in Bordeaux.

They had contracted the rare food-borne illness botulism.

The Airbus Group, a European consortium, is the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, ahead of Boeing. It employs 134,000 people.

Airbus Atlantic, a subsidiary of the aerospace group Airbus, employs 15,000 people in five countries.

An Airbus spokesman claimed only 100 people were sick.

They told Web: “On Friday December 15, around 100 Airbus Atlantic employees fell ill after contracting a food-borne illness after eating the Christmas dinner organized by the company.”

“This appears to be an isolated incident and all staff are recovering well.”

“The health of our employees remains our primary concern and we are cooperating fully with the health authority ARS to determine the cause of the illness and ensure that something like this cannot happen in the future.”
