The company behind adult content website Pornhub admitted profiting from videos of women being forced into sexual acts by a producer after reaching a settlement with US federal prosecutors on Friday (22). The owner company, Aylo, will pay a fine of US$1.8 million (approximately R$8.7 million) and compensate victims of sex trafficking. The information comes from the O Globo website.
According to prosecutors, Aylo ignored the terms and conditions of videos shared on the adult website for years. Pornhubcontracted producer Girls do Porn (GDP) was accused of sex trafficking crimes for tricking and forcing women to appear in sex videos that were posted online without their consent in 2019.
Between 2017 and 2019, Aylo confessed that she received money from the producer despite knowing the context of the videos. The company began receiving requests to remove women who appeared in the videos, saying they were deceived. However, the site owner never verified the allegations and continued to host the videos.
According to an FBI investigator, the company knowingly profited by ignoring victims' concerns. After the agreement, they will be compensated.
Solomon Friedman, Aylo's new chief compliance officer, told CNN that the company does not accept criminal liability but will ensure the situation does not happen again. Aylo controls several other adult content websites.
